Our Advanced Mooring System [AMS] is designed to anchor port notices [PNAMS] and other similar buoys - not vessels. They have been designed using strong, lightweight materials with additional flotation and a minimal counterweight chain to ensure no materials other than the block contact the seabed. This therefore significantly reduces any possible damage from seabed scouring and allows the natural seabed flora and fauna to grow unimpeded. Additional bonuses to using this system are the cost of this design being significantly cheaper than alternative AMS designs, they are far easier to maintain and ongoing costs are also likely to be far cheaper.

 

In the last two years we have successfully installed eleven of these designs, working in conjunction with Falmouth Harbour Commissioners, St Mawes Pier and Harbour Company, and representatives of the Fal and Helford Marine Protected Area to mark speed limits and voluntary no anchor zones (VNAZs). We have identified approximately 100 more applications in and around the Fal and Helford area where race marks, channel marks, swim zone markers and more could be safely redeployed with a PNAMS mooring.
